Reserves lose at home to promotion chasing Redcar.

The reserves were very close to causing an upset before going down 4-1 to Redcar Athletic in the TWR Wearside League on Saturday.

The lads were 1-0 in the lead at half time, but Redcar got on top in the last 20 minutes of the game.

Joint manager Mark Fanning said; “We did well in the first half. We played some good football, and there was some excellent passing and movement.

“But then they equalised with a free header midway through the second half, and they took control after that. One or two of our players didn’t fight as much.

“But there were still quite a few plus points. Again the players showed that they can compete well against a promotion chasing team, but they need to learn how to battle more when the other team gets back into the game.”

The defeat ended the run of six unbeaten games going back to November.

The reserves’ next game is away to Annfield Plain on Saturday.
