David signed for Quakers for the second time in January 2017 from Northern League club Shildon.

He started his career as a youngster at Darlington, and was one of several youth players called upon to play in the Football League during the club’s third administration in 2012. He then had three years at Sunderland before moving to Blackpool in 2015, and he was their club captain in the 2015-16 season at the age of 21, before he was surprisingly released in the summer.

At the end of the 2016-17 season, he was awarded an England C international cap and played against Jersey.

He scored the first two goals of Darlington's 2017-18 season, in the 2-0 away win at Salford on the opening day of the season.
