On Saturday we looked set to pick up our second win away from home this season, but were denied victory in the final minutes. Reece Styche gave us the lead at Alfreton, but after James Talbot was sent off the hosts levelled from the penalty spot.

Salford extended their lead at the top of the table with a comfortable 3-0 win at home to Telford United. They had to wait till the second half to break the deadlock, but an own goal and strikes from Jack Redshaw and Michael Nottingham gave them the victory to put them eight points clear.

York moved into the playoff places, as they beat Bradford Park Avenue 2-1 to leapfrog them in the table. Jon Parkin and Amari Morgan-Smith put them in control meaning Adam Boyes goal was just a consolation for Bradford.

Chorley are only two points off the playoffs after a 2-0 win at Curzon Ashton. Joshua O’Keefe and Nicholas Haughton scored the goals in either half for Chorley.

Nuneaton Town won for the second time this week in a huge clash at the bottom away to Gainsborough Trinity. Jordan Nicholson scored the only goal of the game for Nuneaton after 17 minutes, to lift them up to 15th in the table. Defeat leaves Trinity second bottom two points off safety.

Southport also picked up an important win in another game featuring two sides in the relegation battle when they hosted Leamington.  Jack Sampson opened the scoring early on, with Jason Gilchrist sealing a 2-0 win for Southport.

Several of the sides in our division were in FA Trophy action on Saturday looking to reach the last 16 of the competition. Spennymoor progressed with a 2-0 victory over Solihull.  Meanwhile fellow North East side Blyth were heavily defeat 4-1 at home by Bromley.

The other National North sides all will have to overcome a replay if they are to progress. Kidderminster and Stockport held each other to a 2-2 draw, while Brackley drew at home to Barrow 0-0 and Harrogate scored a stoppage time equaliser to earn a replay against St.Albans.
