Quakers had a good work out against Middlesbrough Under 23s at Blackwell Meadows

Quakers had the first chance of the game on 11 minutes. Joe Wheatley, once of Boro, curled a corner over from the left for Terry Galbraith, who had made a good run into the box, to head just over the bar.

Both sides then played some good football, and Boro finished off a good move with a left foot shot by Nathan McGinlay that keeper Jonny Maddison held on to.

Quakers made a sub on 25 minutes when David Syers limped off and was replaced by Stephen Thompson.

Boro then had another chance on the half hour, a stinging shot by O'Neill that Maddison pushed over the bar, then Maddison made an excellent one-handed save from winger Brahimi, who had cut in from the right and hit a powerful left foot shot.

At the start of the second half, Reece Styche ran though and put a right foot shot just wide.

But Boro came back strongly, and sub Stephen Walker fired just over the top.

Boro took the lead on 65 minutes , when a right wing corner was nodded down for McGinley to neatly turn home from six yards.

Quakers made two subs, with Harvey Saunders and Joe Wheatley coming off for Mitch Glover and Alex Henshall.

Quakers kept working hard without creating any real opportunities, while Maddison made two good stops near the end.
