The Under 18s had a great 4-0 home win against Swalwell on Saturday to put them in agood frame of mind for the FA Youth Cup tie at Shildon on Monday night.

Coach Anthony Verity reports:

After a really positive performance representing Darlington 1st team midweek against Whickham in the Durham Challenge Cup it was vital we built on that performance and get 3 points.

The opening stages were played mainly in the opposition half and after sustained pressure we finally got on top a great delivery into the box and James Walker was there to make it 1-0 with his head. Even though we were in control for large periods the opposition still posed a threat on the break.

Half Time 1-0

With the majority of possession and plenty of chances Darlington needed to put this game out of reach and after stepping through a couple of gears they very swiftly did, with quick goals from Harry Gill and Luke Jenkinson. That pretty much ended the game as a contest and after a really poor challenge and a red card to follow it was clear the game was over. Darlington weren't finished and a great move from back to front gave them a fourth goal.

We now turn our attentions to a huge game Monday night in the FA Youth Cup Away vs Shildon, kick off 7pm.
