Lee Gaskell v Matlock 1

This Saturday Darlington travel to promotion rivals Salford City looking to make it five wins in a row.

The Quakers overcame Matlock Town 3-0 on Tuesday night thanks to goals from Gary Brown, Lee Gaskell and Terry Galbraith. The win saw the side move within two points of third placed Salford, still with three games in hand.

The Team on Tuesday was:

Darlington:

Jameson, Hunter, Galbraith, Turnbull, Burgess, Brown, Mitchell (sub Portas 67), Scott, Gaskell (sub Armstrong 76), Cartman (sub Dowson 71), Thompson.

Subs: Provett, Nowakowski.

Quakers have won their last three away games, and are unbeaten in their last seven home and away in the league.

Last season the two teams went head-to-head for the Evo Stik Division One North league title with Salford coming out on top, but thankfully we were able to join them in the Evo-Stik Premier division this season after success in the playoffs.  The two games between the sides last year saw Salford come out on top on both occasions, with wins by 1-0 at Heritage Park and 2-0 at Moor Lane.

Alongside Darlington and Blyth, Salford have been in the promotion shake-up all season so far. They currently sit in third place in the league, nine points behind leaders Blyth. The Ammies have been near faultless on the road this season winning 11 of their 14 games away from Moor Lane. However, at home they have struggled winning only six from 15 games. Their most recent game was a 4-0 victory over Ramsbottom United.
