The reserves are hoping to return to winning ways at Sunderland West End on Wednesday night.

They started the Wearside League season well, winning at Prudhoe and Stokesley in the league, but then they lost to Hebburn Town Reserves last Saturday.

Joint manager Mark Fanning said; “Sometimes you learn more about your players from a defeat than from a victory, so it will be interesting to see how some of the players respond on Wednesday night.

“The lads are learning all the time, and on Saturday I think they learned that they need to be more clinical in front of goal. We missed some good chances that cost us.

“But I’m sure that the players are capable of bouncing back.”

Striker Joey Beauchamp is unavailable and Derek Wade is out injured, but winger Vinny Steele returns to the squad.
