The reserves had a great start to the Wearside League season when they won 5-0 at Prudhoe.

They were well on top throughout the game, and as well as a very good performance, two first team players, Kevin Burgess and Tom Portas came through unscathed.

Joint reserve team manager Mark Fanning said; “The team ticked all the box. We played some very good football, scored some good goals, and kept a clean sheet. What more can we ask for?

“Kev and Tom both started the game. Kev played 45 minutes as was planned and he came off at half time, and Tom played 70. It was Kev’s first action for a long time, while Tom is getting stronger and better.”

Joseph Smith, Nathan Stephenson and Joey Beauchamp scored before half time, and in the second half Lee Hume and Joseph added further goals.

The reserves’ next game is at Stokesley on Wednesday night.
