Reserves blown away at Redcar

The reserves’ hopes of climbing into the top five of the Wearside League were literally blown away at Redcar on Saturday in a 2-0 defeat.

Playing conditions weren’t exactly ideal with a strong wind blowing across the ground, and it was the  home side who mastered them better, scoring both their goals when they had the wind behind them.

Joint manager Paul Aldsworth said; “When Redcar had the gale force wind at their backs in the first half, it was all hands to the pump. The lads worked really hard and were fantastic

“Second half though, we tested their keeper on a few occasions, but mainly from long distance. Redcar are a good, strong, well-organised side, and sometimes our players weren’t strong enough or aggressive enough at times.

“It was a good experience for the lads on how to cope with windy conditions.”

The reserves next game is at home to Sunderland West End next Saturday , kick off 2pm at Eastbourne.
