The reserves were beaten by two late goals in their home game against Sunderland West End in the Wearside League on Saturday.

The lads looked good for a point against one of the teams chasing the title, but they were caught twice in the last ten minutes.

Joint manager Mark Fanning said; “It was very much an end-to-end game, and both keepers had made good saves, but then their big striker scored with a volley and they quickly added another.

“It was a shame that we lost, because I thought we played really well and were worth at least a point. There were plenty of positives to take from the game.”

Three players who have figured in the first time squad figured in the starting eleven, Paolo Mendes, Jack Vaulks and Eddie Cass, with teenager Jack probably doing the best.

The reserves next game is at Richmond Town on Saturday.
