Boldon CA 2 Darlington Reserves 1

The reserves were within a minute of a deserved point at promotion chasing Boldon CA in the Wearside League last night.

Quakers fought back from a goal down at half time and equalised in the second half through James Beauchamp with some great football, and it looked more likely that they would win until Boldon headed the winner in the dying seconds.

Joint manager Paul Aldsworth said; “They were better than us in the first half, but we battered them in the second half. To be honest, we were happy to be only 1-0 down at half time, but we had plenty of chances in the second half.

“We could have gone on and won the game, but instead it was them. I would have settled for a draw before the game, but we’ve come away kicking ourselves that we didn’t win.”

Quakers remain sixth in the table, and their next game is away to Redcar Athletic on Saturday.
