The Scottish right-back was a mainstay of the side that won back-to-back titles in 1990 and ’91, netting a modest five times in 70 league appearances. But during Quakers’ Conference season he scored four goals in cup competitions, including an eye-catching effort in an FA Cup tie on December 9, 1989.

McJannet steamed into the penalty area to seize upon indecision between defender and goalkeeper as they failed to deal with a pass from David Cork to make it 2-0 with a deft back heel.

Quakers went on to clinch a 3-0 win with the other goals coming from Drew Coverdale, who deputised for the injured Frank Gray that day, and John Borthwick.

McJannett had been signed from Scarborough during December 1988, the season Quakers first dropped out of the Football League.

His stay with the club lasted until they finished bottom of Division Three in 1991-92, his exit bringing an end to four eventful years with the club that included two relegations, two promotions as well as the cheekiest of goals.
