The board of directors of Darlington FC would like to announce the signing of forward Lee Gaskell from Ramsbottom.

Lee, 29, has been a prolific scorer for Ramsbottom in the last four season, scoring over 100 goals for them. In season 2013-14, he won the league’s Golden Boot award, the same award that Nathan Cartman won in season 2014-15.

Darlington manager Martin Gray said; “I’m delighted that we have signed him, because he is a prolific striker at this level. We managed to beat several other clubs to his signature, and he will be an excellent addition to our squad.

“I’m looking forward to him fitting in with our squad.”

Gaskell was declared as the “best striker in the north west” by former Ramsbottom boss Jon Robinson. He started his career at Walshaw, and then became a prolific scorer for Ramsbottom as they won two promotions in three seasons. He had a brief spell at Warrington last season before retuning to Ramsbottom.

Everyone would like to wish Lee a long and successful stay at Darlington.
