The 3 - 1 home win against New Mills.

Surprise entry?

When I arrived at the ground and saw the team sheet I was a little dismayed to see that it contained mainly youths and fringe first teamers.

My mind was cast back to 12 months earlier when we fielded a weakened team for the final couple of league matches then fell short in the play-offs.

However, this time things were to be different.

Our kids soon got to grips with their more experienced opponents and gave them a lesson in hard work and good finishing and thoroughly deserved their 3-1 winning margin.

It was great to see the first team congratulating the kids on the pitch at full time - a proper feel-good moment!

Winning 4 - 2 at Colwyn Bay in the sunshine.

What a perfect way to cap off a week's holiday.

After spending the morning soaking up the sun on Llandudno beach we headed over to Old Colwyn for the match.

The locals were very friendly, the ground was surrounded by beautiful scenery and we enjoyed a great win in the warm sunshine.

Just 4 days earlier we had struggled to a 2-1 defeat in the rain at Workington and were yet to gain a point away from home.

Today though, everything clicked into place and we stormed into a 3-0 half time lead thanks to Kevin Burgess and goal machine Alan White.

The hosts were stronger in the 2nd half though and pulled a goal back, but soon we regained our 3 goal margin thanks to Dowson's excellent finishing.

Bay weren't finished yet - after they scored their second there was a nervous wait for the final whistle followed by cheers from the relieved away fans.

Winning 3 - 0 at Ramsbottom

Known affectionately by locals as "Tupp's A***", the Rammy game was re-scheduled at short notice following both clubs' FA cup defeats 2 weeks earlier.

I made the decision to travel up to Lancashire, even though it meant a very early start, and was well rewarded for my efforts.

From the first minute to the last we were on top and the comical manner in which Graeme Armstrong was able to score said it all about the day the visitors were having.

The second half gave us what would turn out to be Rob Youhill's only goal for the club - a real screamer and the best goal I have seen this season.

We kept the pressure on right up to the end of the match and Nathan Cartman got the third from a cool finish.

Another warm sunny day with lovely scenery in all directions!
