Darlington matchwinner Adam Mitchell says that Quakers need to keep focussing on one game at a time.

Mitch’s goal against Stockport – his first of the season -- on Wednesday night gave us our second home win of the season and put us fourth in the table.

But Mitch and the rest of the lads aren’t taking much notice of the league table, and said; “We need to keep focussing. We don’t really look at the table, we leave that to the fans.

“We take each game as it comes, put the performances in and get the points. The table will take care of itself.

“The manager brought in some good players during the summer and made the squad stronger. We had a few injuries on Wednesday, but Jordan Watson came in and did a great job. We have a good, strong squad that has plenty of skill, experience, character and balance.”

The general opinion among the fans is that there has plenty of excitement this season in Vanarama National League North games, and Mitch said; “The games in this league are more entertaining, more exciting and are being watched by more people. It’s definitely nail biting for us on the field – not only has there been the Stockport game, but also the FC United, Gloucester and Curzon Ashton wins. We need to keep focussing.

Adam provided the assist for Mark Beck’s equaliser and scored the winner.

“I had a chance before the equaliser that I put over the bar, and I also overhit a cross, so when the ball came to me again, I made sure that I didn’t overhit it, and fortunately Mark scored.

“It was nice to get my first goal of the season. Mark and Thommo opened their defence up on the right, Carts made a run and opened up the space for me to run in to, and I got enough contact on the ball to put it in the net.

“Stockport were a good side, who passed the ball around well. They had a good shape, and had two decent wingers.

“Peter Jameson made a good save with his left hand at 1-0, and Liam Marrs made a great clearance. I thought it was a bit unfortunate how they got their goal, but from our equaliser and all the way through the second half I thought we were brilliant and we controlled the game for long spells.”
