WIN Quaker

Martin Gray has praised his players’ “fantastic” attitude following their 4-1 away win at Stamford on Tuesday.

The victory wasn’t of a run-of-the-mill nature, considering the circumstances that Quakers faced, with half the team stuck on the A1 behind an accident, so MG had to name three players on his team sheet who weren’t even near the ground.

Nevertheless, Quakers overcame the problems, and after a goalless first half won their 12th away league game of the season.

“The players showed plenty of togetherness and a fantastic attitude,” said MG.

“The performance proved that our squad has strength in depth. The effort they put into the game, from start to finish, was incredible. Stamford weren’t a bad team, they worked hard.

“I must admit that I was in a quandary before the game because I didn’t know who was going to arrive in time and who wasn’t owing to the hold up. It was a very challenging situation.”

That’s four wins in a row now for Quakers to put them four points behind leaders Blyth with three games in hand.

“We’re taking it one game at a time,” said MG. “Nobody is getting carried away.”

Quakers are at home to Rushall Olympic on Saturday, then away to Nantwich on Tuesday night.
