Darlington manager Martin Gray said that he was delighted to record a double over Ramsbottom United.

Quakers comfortably won 3-0 in Lancashire yesterday, following on from their 2-1 home win over the same opponents earlier this month.

“It was a quite solid performance, and we could have scored more,” he said.

“Ramsbottom didn’t have a shot all game, because we defended well throughout. We knew beforehand that Ramsbottom aren’t a bad side, and they had made us work hard in the game at Heritage Park, so to record a double over them is very pleasing.”

Gray was also pleased that Rob Youhill scored a goal on his full debut, which has been delayed because of his elbow injury.

“Rob’s finish for his goal was outstanding,” he said.

“He’s got the ability to do that in his locker, plus he also put six or seven good crosses in. I was pleased that he got a goal.”

Nathan Cartman was also on the scoresheet – he is now the top scorer with five league goals – and MG said; “I thought Nathan was outstanding, both on and off the ball.”
