In the latest in our series on the DFCSG board members, we spoke to Rob Duncan.

How long have you been following the club?

I am 58 (just gone) and have followed the club basically all my life. I cannot remember my first game but would expect I would have gone with my Dad as we lived close to Feethams so would think a Saturday game around 1967.

Who have been your favourite players over the years?

In every era a player comes along so there will be many but the first one would have to be Alan Walsh -- a terrific player who is still top scorer for the club.

After that names such as Ron Ferguson, Freddie Barber, Marco Gabbiadini, David Cork, Robbie Blake, Craig Liddle and most recently Gary Brown and Nathan Cartman.

Ultimately any player that gave us 100 %.

What are your favourite away grounds?

I don’t really have any -- perhaps Hartlepool but only when we win ! Got to say I did enjoy going to grounds in the Northern League so could I add Heritage Park?

What have been your best memories as a fan?

That night at Whitby will last forever and of course the best day in my life was the win at Wembley.

As a Darlo fan its always about following the club through thick but mainly thin! Since we started again I have made many friends too many to mention but it’s been an absolute pleasure thank you!

What is your involvement with the Supporters Group?

I have been involved with DFCSG and the previous CIC for the last 5 years.  In that time, I have been involved in many fund-raising initiatives to raise money for the club, this involves putting on music nights, comedy nights, Community events etc.

I also made a CD called Darlo Coming Home which successfully raised over £1000 for the club, the feedback was what a great singer I was (not)!

My main role has been as front of house on the fans table at HP and BM. Here anyone can approach me with questions about anything related to the club which I will endeavour to answer, selling match day tickets and distribution of membership cards. It is a role I enjoy, and I like the banter with the fans (most of the time) and will continue to carry it out working alongside our new SLO Dave Collinge.

Where do you envisage the club being in five to ten years’ time?

To be honest as long as I have a club to support I don’t really mind which division we are in. Yes, I want to get back into the FL but what I don’t want to see is the club ever going into private ownership again ala Singh and Houghton, unless that person is absolutely committed to DFC and not in it just to make money out of it,

I believe that we can continue as a fan-owned club, but we will need outside investment by the right person.

As long as DFC survive I will be a happy man!
