A game of two halves for Darlington Youth U17s, as they faced Rutherford at home in the premier league .

A poor start from the team lead to them conceding the first goal after 13 minutes from a long wind assisted ball. The home team then began to settle and on 26 minutes, Joseph Smith scored the home team’s first. The now composed side went on to score a further two before half time, Sean Bending and Lee Hume scoring excellent goals both struck low from outside the box.

Darlington started the second half very differently from the first, dominating from the whistle. Luke Wilkinson scoring after 48 minutes, shortly followed by Dale Milburn, putting the ball into the net once more, increasing the home lead to 5-1. Lee Hume and Luke Wilkinson continued their scoring form, both claiming hat tricks giving Darlington an eight goal lead, and ending the game very comfortable 9-1 winners.

Man of the match was Charlie Wiggan for a calm and controlled defensive display, also a special shoutout to new 'assistant' manager David Milburn, starting his managerial career with a victory
