The inaugural meeting of a new branch of Darlington supporters went “very well” in Newton Aycliffe tonight.

Nine Darlo fans decided to revive a supporters group, and they appointed a chairman, Alan Bennett, who said; “The main topic was travel to home games, how a couple of fans have lapsed because they were unable to get to games but would go if there was transport available. We discussed fundraising events such as quiz nights and ways to get younger fans included like funfairs. One lad is going to research voluntary group models on which we can base ourselves, but the consensus was to follow the official supporters group model for consistency. With regard to travel, we are looking at a coach to include a Shildon pick up as I know we have at least seven people interested from there. All in all I’m very pleased with tonight.”

The next meeting is scheduled for May 13th at the Iron Horse, beginning at 7pm. If you live in Aycliffe, Shildon or Bishop Auckland, then pop along.
