Darlington take on Barwell at the weekend in what will be the Quakers first home Saturday game of the season.

After a disappointing defeat at Buxton last Saturday the club bounced back with a 3-0 victory at home to Frickley Athletic on Tuesday night.

Ahead of Saturday’s game Darlington manager Martin Gray said, “It was great to get a win on Tuesday, the first three points of the season, a very strong performance, three goals scored none conceded. We go into Saturday full of confidence, as do the opposition. We had them watched and it should be a game with two very good footballing teams.”

“The fan-base were fantastic for a midweek game, nearly 1000 of them, on a wet horrible night and hopefully we can send them home happy again on Saturday.”

“David Dowson comes back into the squad, Rob Youhill is near, but will not be in contention this weekend.”

Like the Quakers, Barwell also have three points from their opening two games. Last Saturday they lost 1-0 at home to Blyth Spartans. However, they bounced back in emphatic style on Tuesday night, winning 5-1 away to Sutton Coldfield Town.

Last season Barwell finished 14th in the division having just been switched from the Southern League Premier Division.

Kick-off on Saturday is 3pm at Heritage Park.
