Darlington winger Arran Wearmouth made a successful return from injury for the reserves in their 3-0 home win over Boldon CA in the Wearside League at Eastbourne on Saturday.

Arran hasn’t played for Quakers since he signed from Blyth, as he was diagnosed with a cruciate ligament injury soon after pre season training started.

Reserve team joint manager Mark Fanning said; “We gave Arran a run out for the last 30 minutes, and I think he was glad to get out on the pitch. He took a couple of heavy challenges from their players quite well, and didn’t have any reaction. He’ll probably be involved in our next reserve game this Saturday.”

It was another good performance  in front of a good crowd by the ressies, who have lost just twice in their last nine league matches, both of those defeats coming against Jarrow.

“I thought we played some very good stuff, and were in control for most of the game,” Mark said.

“Maybe we took our foot off the pedal at 2-0 in the second half a little bit, but we lifted ourselves and scored a third.

“The lads have done really well again – the league leaders are the only team to have beaten us recently.”

Lewis Walton and Kurt Matthews (2) scored the goals for Quakers, while Wearmouth was unlucky with a missed penalty for a fourth.
